Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) comprises of digital trunked mobile standards developed by the European Telecommunications Standardization Institute (ETSI) to meet the needs of Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) user organizations for public safety, military services, transportation, government services, disaster and emergency. This infrastructure constitutes the mobile radio needs for public safety groups such as police, disaster and fire departments, utility companies, and other enterprises that provide voice and data communications services. Some unique PMR services of TETRA radios include the wide area fast call set-up, Direct Mode Operation (DMO) with “back to back” communications facility, high level voice encryption for security requirements of public safety organizations, and emergency call facility in any disaster.
